Starting to feel like a Southerner...

Besides making my first fried chicken dinner (I made it for a Ohio visitors, as if my first fried chicken would be for anyone born in the South) I have had other recent experiences that prove I am on my way to becoming a Southern gal.

One of those experiences happened this morning. I met Uga. :) For those of you in Ohio that have no idea who Uga is, let me fill you in. He is University of Georgia's mascot. A Savannah family has always owned Uga. I work with Charles, the only son of the owners. He takes Uga to every game. Charles brought Uga into work today and I had my camera!

He is so ugly he is cute! Don't you think?
This Uga became the mascot after the last Uga past away recently. He is so calm and he loved having all of us women fawn over him this morning.
He is a little more lovable than a poisonous nut, don't you think? Sorry OSU!

The office closed at three today, so Tek and I went to the beach with my friend Danette and her two kids. I love taking pictures of them, they are so photogenic.

This is the second experience that made me realize I am on my way to being a Southerner. I don't think I could ever give up the ability to go to the beach in April. It was beautiful out there. I was chilly (see I am a Southerner) but there were clearly many tourists from Ohio, since the ocean was full of swimmers! :)

Tek found the water pretty quickly.

His pants and jacket were soaked within two minutes of entering the water. So I stripped him down to tshirt and diaper. I swore I would never be the mom with her kid running around in his diaper. FYI: Those of you without kids.... throw ALL of those rules out the window. You will compromise very quickly. :)

He loves to climb and is completely unaware of his limitations. I hope that never changes.

That is all for now. We have a VERY busy weekend ahead of us. Tomorrow we are going to a friend's church for an egg hunt and then on Sunday we have 15 people at our house for the 3rd Annual Blair Family Easter Party. Easter is my FAVORITE holiday and I am very excited about sharing it with my friends. Though it is never quite as good as a Vidmar Family Easter. Missing Easter with the Vidmars is probably the hardest part about living so far away. I was very depressed my first Easter away. But I am working on creating our own traditions, and of course we do have egg rolling... after all, what is Easter without egg rolling? I miss you Vidmar Family, most at Easter time! :)

More pictures to come after the holiday.

Some pictures to share before bed

Andy and I watched Wyatt tonight and I captured some good bath time pics.

Tek loves to splash. I was soaked by the end.
Doesn't Wyatt look like a little boy? He is losing his baby face.

Wyatt let me do his hair. Like it?

After church on Sunday we spend some time at Skidaway. Tek LOVED it!
I think he loved the little dog best though. :)

Off to bed!
Good night.

St. Patrick's Day Pictures

Here are some pictures from St. Patrick's Day. Tek loved the parade. Things have been incredibly crazy in the Blair family. But I am working on getting that under control. So, hopefully you will hear more from me again.
For now, here are a few new things Tek is doing...
1. He is saying: kitty cat, no, Cody, dog, Teketel, daddy, (mama occasionally)
2. He is starting to whisper.
3. He still LOVES to dance. And it's still Kayne West that gets him moving.
4. He is getting his 5th tooth, finally!
5. Running like crazy.
6. Climbing everything... especially the dining room table.
7. His daycare teachers and I are trying to figure this one out, but he gallops EVERYWHERE! If he is really excited about something he just gallops. So strange.
8. He and Riley are acting like brothers. Riley always tries to steal his vanilla wafers and Tek gets so mad, "NA!" (no in Tek language) while he swats at him. And if Riley gets it, oh no... Tek will SCREAM at the top of his lungs until Mom puts Riley out of the room and gives Tek another cookie.

That's all for now... lots of laundry to do.

Spring is here!

I am so happy spring is here! Tomorrow we will have longer days and the temperature is already in the 70's, hitting 80 tomorrow. I walk to work every morning and the last couple weeks have been VERY cold. (I really shouldn't use the term "cold" with so many Ohioans reading, but I have lost my thick blood and if I need to wear a scarf it is unbearable!)

I only have a few minutes to post, I only get two Saturdays a month to clean and today is one of them, so I need to get back to work. BUT there are pictures... of course! :)

Bath Time!

Tek is following in Uncle Jason's footsteps... he is already becoming computer savvy.

At the park this morning.

I will be back soon!

The Answers to My Prayers...

MY BOY CAN...

CLEAN AND...

DANCE!
(every time Kanye comes on VHI, Tek will stop what he is doing and get close to the tv and dance. -- please ignore the fact that our tv is on a laundry basket... so embarrassing, you would think we grew up in Wrightsville.)

His future wife is one lucky lady!

We spent a little while at the park today....

I think I am just going to stop with Tek. No more kids... what are the chances of getting a kid this amazing again?? Not only is he well behaved and charming, but seriously he is the cutest kid in the entire world!

Back by Popular Demand!

I'm sorry its been so long, but here are more pics of our little man!

Superbowl Sunday, representing like a true Browns fan... always optimistic. (Like the drool across the front? I think he is starting to cut a few more teeth.)
Browns shirt courtesy of Auntie Amy. :)

Tek LOVES to read. He will bring this Dr. Seuss book back to you to read a least a dozen times a night.
If you try to put it aside, he will get it back and insist!

If you ever want to make our child smile, just sing itsy bitsy spider. He will laugh and start doing the motions instantly. It has cured many a bumped head. :)

We have a gate covering the front of the fireplace. (I FINALLY have a fireplace and it has a child's gate blocking it, so sad.) Anyway, Tek has taken to throwing his toys, shoes, and anything else he can find over the gate.

Mommy and Tek love to play "superman."
Look at that smile!
When I put him down he will just stand there looking at me as if saying, "Mom, I am not finished yet!"

I have to study for a test now. I will try to update everyone on our life this week. At least you now have some pictures to hold you over.

I'm no Kate!

Hello from Savannah. Andy here. Kate is usually the one updating this blog, but time is not something she has any extra of right now. I know that she usually has a lot of pictures and clever captions under them, but as the title suggests, I'm no Kate.

For those who don't know, she started school this semester and is making the transition back to studying after having left it years ago. As is typical of her, she is doing amazing. She spends tons of time studying and worrying that she isn't going to cut it. Her first algebra quiz was last week, and after finishing before anyone else, was sure she didn't do well. When she got it back, not only did she finish first, she got a hundred percent! She probably doesn't want me writing this, but Tek and I are super proud of her and wanted to tell everyone.

I don't know how often she will be able to get to the blog, so I guess I am going to have to learn how to add pictures.

Quick Update

I apologize for the lack of posting lately, between our trip to Ohio (sorry to those we did not get to see... it was a really quick visit, only two days in each town) and the craziness of the holidays, the blog has been neglected.

What we have been up to...

Andy...
Church stuff, church stuff, and more church stuff. The marketing campaign has been launched. And even better news... people have been coming that have heard about us through the campaign. We have a billboard, ads in a local magazine, and ads on a local website. You can check out our website (and listen to Andy's sermons) at www.tapestrysavannah.com.

Tek...
He is such a little boy now. He is running, climbing, and being a wild man. He gets into everything he isn't supposed to... and more! But its such a fun age. Every day he surprises me with something new. This morning as he and I were driving to church I was singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" to him and I turn around and he is making the hand motions for the spider climbing. Now, he won't do it on command. And when daddy was in the car he would only do it until daddy turned around and then he would just smirk as if saying "I know you want me to do the motions... but I do what I want!" He loves to pick up our cellphones and hold them up to his ear. And he says something similar to "thank you" and "uh oh" but again, not on command. :) He really is a sponge.

Kate...
Crazy time. I am barely keeping my head above water, but I love that. Andy always shakes his head at me because I can never sit still. However, I will sit still for a good movie, a good book, or a good tv show. :) And my currents shows that get me every time are 24 (great season!), How I Met Your Mother (if you have never seen this you are really missing out), and The Office. I just finished a couple good books from Ethiopian authors. Work is going good. Wachovia is officially a "division of Wells Fargo." Hasn't changed much in my office except that now we all have little Wells Fargo stagecoach banks on our desks. :)

Tonight Andy and I went to see "Ain't Misbehavin'" at the theatre. It had Ruben Studdard (from American Idol) and Frenchie Davis. Ruben was pretty good but I mainly wanted to go to see Frenchie. She was on Idol too but got kicked off for internet pics. Really. :) Anyway, we saw her perform in Rent in NYC and she was AMAZING! And she was just as amazing tonight. I loved it. It was a really nice Christmas present.

A happy belated birthday to a few of my friends here in Savannah... sorry that I haven't done any birthday blogs for you. I am very disappointed. Happy Birthday to Dannah, Isaac, & Danette.

AND a really big happy belated birthday to Penny. Penny has been living with us the past three months. And she moves out this week. :( I keep giving her reasons why she can't (mostly "who is going to help me with Tek?" or "who is going to do the dishes?" etc.) She is only moving a block and a half away and she promises to wash the dishes still. :) Thank you for that. We went out dancing for her birthday on Friday and had a blast. Andy even stayed out late! Way to go old man!

I am tired and have to get up early (on my day off) to do A LOT of things!

Good night.

Twinkies, Chuckie's, and New Years...

Cody FINALLY matched Andy. He has been trying for some time.

Tek had his first visit to Chuck E. Cheese w/ Poppy and Granna Blair.
He is still a little young for the games, but he enjoyed it...
But I think Poppy and Dad had the most fun. :)

Then we had New Years at our place. Look at Penny! :)
I didn't do the full length shot because she was already irritated that I put her in a short dress, I didn't want to push my luck with a picture on the internet for all the world to see. :)
And this song is for you Penny.

We are off to Ohio tomorrow for a visit. Can't wait to see everyone.

A Birthday Tribute to Nicki...

Happy Birthday Nicki!
Getting awfully close to 30!

Now, where I have seen this face before?

We hope this day is all that you want it to be.
Happy Birthday!

With Love,
Andy, Kate, Tek, & Riley
