World AIDS Day

Today 6,000 children will be orphaned to AIDS.

Every 12 seconds another person is infected with HIV.

Two-thirds of all people living with HIV are found in sub-Saharan Africa, although this region contains little more than 10% of the world’s population. During 2007 alone, an estimated 1.5 million adults and children died as a result of AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. Since the beginning of the epidemic more than 15 million Africans have died from AIDS.

What you can do to help:
Sponsor a child affected by AIDS. (www.ahope.org or www.worldvision.org)
Petition congress on behalf of those affected by AIDS. (www.worldvision.org or www.one.org)
Donate to one of the many organizations that fight the AIDS epidemic. (my top choices are www.worldvision.org and www.ahopeforchildren.org)
Educate yourself about the AIDS epidemic.
Spread the word. Tell others about the affect AIDS has around the world.

Please do not ignore this day. Do something. It will only take five minutes to educate yourself, make a donation, or sign a petition. Five minutes of your time may change the life of another. Seems worth it.

The time is always right to do what is right. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Once again... Thanks for listening.

Proverbs 31:8-9
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.
